I am passionate about supporting clients
to discover hope.

I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and have over 11 years’ experience as a psychologist. In my practice I consult with student, adults and teenagers over the age of 16 about a range of problems that may urge them to seek psychotherapy.

I provide short and longer term individual therapy in English and Afrikaans. Common problems addressed include:

  • Anxiety: Panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalised anxiety (GAD) and phobias

  • Depression

  • Exposure to traumatic experiences, debriefing and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Adjustment problems: after divorce; bereavement and other losses; living with a serious medical condition.

  • Stress and burnout

  • Aggression and anger management

  • Personal growth and development

Psychotherapy Approach

I’m passionate about people’s ability to reclaim their lives from problems and discover their preferred ways of living. It’s a privilege to be a witness to clients unfolding stories. I create a safe space for clients to discover what they prefer for their life and support them in taking steps that create this preferred reality. I view my role as a collaborative partner working with clients to improve their mental health.

I obtained my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology with distinction at the North-West University. I worked for the Defence force for the first few years after qualifying and here developed an interest in treating trauma through working with military personnel. Hereafter I was employed by the University of Stellenbosch and provided psychotherapy to students, including those at Tygerberg medical campus. I developed a passion for supporting medical health professionals in psychotherapy.

I have also received training in BWRT, Resource therapy, TRE (Trauma and tension release exercises) and EMDR. Furthermore I draw from Solution focused therapy, Narrative therapy and CBT principles in my approach to therapy. I work eclectically by selecting therapeutic tools based on the individual’s unique needs.
